SUMMARY:"Destination Moon: The Apollo 11 Mission"
DESCRIPTION:Valley of the Caddo Museum & Cultural Center proudly presents "Destination Moon: The Apollo 11\n\nMission" through November 2nd\, 2019. The poster exhibition from the Smithsonian celebrates the 50th\n\nanniversary of the Apollo 11 mission and explores the birth and development of the American space\n\nprogram and the space race.\n\nOn July 24\, 1969\, Apollo 11 met President John F. Kennedy's 1961 challenge of landing a man on the\n\nmoon and returning him safely to Earth. The poster exhibition explores what led the United States to\n\naccept this challenge and how the resulting 953\,054-mile voyage to the moon and back was\n\naccomplished just eight years after the program was authorized.\n\nFifty years later\, the Apollo program remains the benchmark for great national achievement. When\n\nApollo 11 landed on the moon and humans first set foot on another celestial body\, it gave humanity a\n\nnew perspective from which to view the world. Using this poster exhibition\, viewers will be able to\n\nlook back at this historic mission\, and hopefully envision the next generation of innovators\, scientists\,\n\nexplorers and astronauts.\n\n"Destination Moon: The Apollo 11 Mission" is made possible by the support of Jeff and MacKenzie\n\nBezos\, Joe Clark\, Bruce R. McCaw Family Foundation\, the Charles and Lisa Simonyi Fund for Arts\n\nand Sciences\, John and Susann Norton\, and Gregory D. and Jennifer Walston Johnson.\n\nThe Caddo Museum\, located at 1115 Bonham St\, Paris\, TX\, is open 10 AM to 4:00 PM every Friday\n\nand Saturday except major holidays. Admission is free\, special tours arranged by appointment.\n\nFacebook page: Valley of the Caddo Museum & Cultural Center - Website: vocmuseumparis.org
