SIX LAMAR COUNTY NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS PARTICIPATE IN
EAST TEXAS GIVING DAY

(PARIS, Texas) -- Six local nonprofit agencies including the United Way of Lamar County, Paris Junior College, Habitat for Humanity, Paris Pregnancy Care Center, the Downtown Food Pantry and the Texas Dream Center are participating in this year's East Texas Giving Day.

The East Texas Giving Day is an 18-hour online event that is hosted by the East Texas Communities Foundation to provide critical funding for our area nonprofits.  This year's event is on Tuesday, April 24th from 6am to midnight.   You can pre-schedule your donation at EastTexasGivingDay.org or give on April 24th.  News and updates are also available on facebook.com/SimplifiedGiving or on Twitter #ETGivingDay.

Jenny Wilson, Executive Director of the United Way of Lamar County explains, "this is an excellent opportunity for Lamar County residents to maximize their charitable donations.  Since prize donations will be given out to the participating nonprofits, a donation of $20 may actual win your favorite nonprofit a $250, $500 or $1000 prize."  She adds, "no donation is too small and since we don't  normally have the capability to accept credit card donations, we are excited that our donors can give online using a credit card at EastTexasGivingDay.org"

The six local organizations will be at the corner of Collegiate Drive and Lamar Avenue on Tuesday, April 24th from 11am - 2pm if you would like to make a donation in person or need help accessing the site.  All local food trucks are invited to come to the parking lot that afternoon.

Last year's event raised $498,664 for the 177 nonprofits that participated from 32 counties and 29% of the donors were first-time donors.
